The Clubhouse for Hardware Innovation Projects (CHIP)

Main content start

The Clubhouse for Hardware Innovation Projects (CHIP) is a new, dedicated facility supporting student organizations focused on physical design, engineering, and the arts. The Clubhouse provides the space, equipment, and support your club needs to bring complex hardware projects to life.

What The Clubhouse Offers Student Orgs

The Clubhouse is more than just a workspace—it's a supportive hub designed for the entire student org community. Located in the renovated 12,000 square-foot former Automotive Innovation Facility, recognized clubs will have access to:

  • Industrial Fabrication Equipment: Dedicated spaces for machining, metalwork, digital fabrication, electronics, textiles, and a variety of hand and portable tools.
  • Industry-Standard Composites Lab: A significant addition to campus (coming in 2026), this lab will meet all safety guidelines and provide student clubs with access to lightweight composite materials.
  • Club Workspace and Storage: Dedicated areas within the facility for member clubs to work on projects and store materials.
  • Event and Meeting Space: A welcoming environment for hosting club meetings, events, sponsors, demonstrations, learning sessions, or even social nights.
  • Staff Support and Mentorship: Guidance on machine training, project development, and leadership from the The Clubhouse team.
  • Community and Collaboration: A central place to connect, collaborate, and build a culture of safety, inclusivity, and technical innovation with other student organizations.

Location and Development

The Clubhouse is currently under development on the west side of campus at the Automotive Innovation Facility. The Clubhouse team is working closely with club leaders to transform the space, create essential policies and schedules, and identify the necessary, cutting-edge equipment to directly support student goals.
