Start a New Student Organization

Bringing a new community to life at Stanford begins with understanding the formation process. This section outlines the necessary steps and requirements to successfully launch a new student organization.

VSO Annual Registration

All student orgs must be registered with the university in order to be a formally recognized student organization able to operate on campus. Review the latest procedures, and deadlines to ensure you have access to the name of Stanford and use university and ASSU resources.

Dormant Status and Renewal

A student organization is considered dormant if it fails to meet registration deadlines, lacks the required number of enrolled student members, or is inactive in its operations. Dormant status can result in a loss of privileges, including access to university space and funding.

Elections and Transitions
