Voluntary Student Organization (VSO) Organizational Structure
For VSOs to maintain their status, and thus be able to program with the rights and responsibilities related to programming as a student organization, VSO’s need to abide by the following organizational policies.
- VSOs need a minimum of three officers: 2 executives (president, co-presidents, VP, etc.) and a financial officer elected by a democratic process with the entire membership as outlined in your constitution, registered with and trained by the ASSU.
- These officers need to be matriculated students in good academic standing, and on-campus, during the duration of their term.
- Each year, VSOs need to re-register with OSE, updating leadership and other changes, such as adjustments to their constitutions or things like name changes. Any updates to leadership throughout the year must be reflected in your record.
- As outlined in your constitutions, VSOs must accept any matriculated Stanford student in good standing. VSOs cannot discriminate on the basis of race, color, or national origin, sex (which, under current federla guidelines, includes pregnancy, sexual harassment, gender identity, and sexual orientation).
