Student Government

The Office of Student Engagement (OSE) provides dedicated support and guidance to the various branches and arms of the Associated Students of Stanford University (ASSU) student leadership, fostering effective governance, programming, and development.

OSE collaborates directly with the ASSU professional staff to advance the best interests of the ASSU across all its initiatives.

ASSU Executive and Legislative Branches

Advising and guidance is offered to the elected leaders within both the Executive and Legislative branches (Undergraduate Senate and Graduate Student Council) of the ASSU. This support is crucial for navigating complex university processes, developing strong and sustainable governance structures, and effectively executing strategic initiatives.

Stanford Student Enterprises

Stanford Student Enterprises (SSE) is the business arm of the ASSU (Associated Students of Stanford University), dedicated to operating diverse businesses run by students, for students. Most commonly student leaders engage with Capital Group (CapGroup) for banking.

SSE focuses on facilitating student employment, allowing student employees to gain real-world business skills through enterprise operations. The SSE also maintains a central office with professional staff who work collaboratively with our office.

Crucially, all profits generated by SSE are directed to financially support student organizations across campus, significantly enhancing the overall Stanford experience.

First-Year Class Council (Frosh Council)

OSE staff oversees and advises the First-Year Class Council, otherwise known as the Frosh Council. Frosh Council is the elected leadership of the frosh class with representatives from all frosh dorms. Frosh Council Reps are elected at the beginning of the year by their frosh dorm mates and work together to create class unity and community through class events just for frosh, such as Frosh Formal.
