Orientation is a period of adjustment and initial exposure for new students at Stanford. Special considerations should be taken with regard to use of alcohol and recruitment for student organizations during this time. The following dates apply to New Student Orientation 2020:
New Student Orientation (NSO) Period: Wednesday, September 9 to Sunday, September 13, 2020: At no time should any Stanford student provide, serve or in any way make alcohol available to any new, incoming undergraduate student (frosh or transfer). This specifically means that no alcohol is to be present, served, or consumed at any student organization and/or dorm during NSO.
September 9 – 13, 2020 (Wednesday - Sunday). Student organizations are not allowed to host events or parties for new students.
Student organizations are not permitted to recruit new members for their organization before the second day of New Student Orientation, Thursday, September 10 (eg added to listervs). No incoming undergraduate student should be offered organization membership or asked to represent a student organization until the conclusion of the New Student Orientation period, Monday, September 14, 2020.
Organizations wishing to conduct normal advertising and flyering may do so provided that they follow university policy for such activities.
