Tree Mail Week 8: Introducing TL;DR Workshops

Weekly Student Org Communications

Welcome to Week 8, folks!

If you got yet another đŸŒČ email last week about some missing mandatory training and thought, “Wait, what training?” đŸ˜± or maybe you’ve been trying to figure out how to reserve a room 😓, get an event approved đŸ„ș, track who’s completed what 🧐, or even just find the right forms or contact information: this one’s for you. 😇

So as a holiday gift from us to you, we are hosting a workshop to answer all of these questions and more! Join us for the TL;DR workshop where you can get clarity on how to navigate managing your student org and learn about all the resources available to make the process easier. Oh, and did I mention there’s free food? 😏 (Mendocino Farms)

RSVP ASAP! You won’t want to miss this. More information below!

All the best,
Meygan Lewis - Class 2026
Oluwanifemi ibrahim - Class of 2027

TL;DR: Things You Should Know But Weren’t Told

Were the mandatory trainings TMI? RSVP to this workshop ASAP.

Running a student org doesn’t come with a manual, but we’ve got you covered. Join OSE for a hands-on session that breaks down what no one ever explained: how to plan impactful events, manage your finances responsibly, and build a structure that helps your org thrive long after its founders graduate.

Each org should send at least one representative ready to bring insights back to their team. You’ll leave with a practical resource toolkit to support your leadership going forward.

Wednesday, November 19 | 4:30 - 6:00 PM | @ OSE (Old Union, Suite 206)

In-person with food (from Mendocino Farms!)

Does your org need additional support? Request a custom-designed workshop built specifically for your group’s needs, led by LINKS Peer Facilitators. Request your next workshop here!

ASSU Quick & Reserve Grants Policy Changes

ASSU has made updates to Quick and Reserve Grants funding policies that will apply for the remainder of the 2025-2026 academic year. These changes are effective immediately.

Updated Policies:

  1. Applications must be submitted at least one month prior to the event date.
  2. Requests submitted for events occurring within 1 week or less may be automatically denied.

These policies aim to ensure fairness across VSOs and help prevent funding delays. In prior quarters, last-minute submissions can result in delayed approvals or unprocessed funding. Submitting applications well in advance gives your group and the Appropriations Committee the necessary time to guarantee funding support.

Please also remember that retroactive funding is not permitted. Any expenses incurred before your funding request is approved will not be eligible for reimbursement.

If you have any questions, contact the Undergraduate Senate Appropriations Chair at ugs-funding@assu.stanford.edu or celestev@assu.stanford.edu, or attend office hours for grant-specific questions.

Big Game Week

The 128th Big Game between Stanford and Cal is scheduled for Saturday, November 22nd. In the week leading up to this date, specifically November 17th through November 22nd, numerous campus spirit events are anticipated, including the Axe Committee all week in White Plaza as they blow the train whistle every hour for the 128 hours leading up to the game to celebrate this storied rivalry.
