Hey, y’all! I hope your Week 7 is going well ♥️
I spent this past weekend finishing up a fantasy novel (with romance of course) from a series I’ve been reading; I hope my inter-library loan request works out because I’m dying to read the next one 😪
For those of y’all that are familiar with Sarah J. Maas, I just finished reading Queen of Shadows from her Throne of Glass series! Last weekend was quite literally a sprint to finish reading because I couldn’t put it down! I just love reading about Aelin and Rowan’s relationship developments because I’m a hopeless romantic (pls help) 💔
Speaking of other exciting things, DragFest is happening on Friday this week at Wilbur Field from 7-10pm! I actually went last year to check it out and it was so fun! I was in awe of the work put into engineering some of the super intricate costume pieces from last year… also, all of the drag queens were SOOO beautiful! ☺️
It was also at DragFest last year that I was reminded of how fun a song New Rules by Dua Lipa is haha! You should add it to your Summer 2025 playlist c;
In all seriousness, though, you all should make time to drop by DragFest for at least a few minutes this year! The photos above are actually from Hot or Not?, which was a Cardinal Nights supported event hosted last week by RecWell and Sequoia!
I’m wishing you all the best during this last stretch of the academic year! Just know you’re not alone in feeling overwhelmed (and already missing your friends who are graduating soon) 🫶
Love,
Denise, Class of 2027
Student Org Notes
GrantEd
The deadline to submit all outstanding reimbursements and payment requests in GrantEd for this academic year is Friday, June 13. If you need a physical check for pickup before move-out, your request must be submitted by Friday, June 6.
With many VSOs already transitioning leadership, we strongly encourage you to settle any outstanding expenses now to avoid delays in payments to students or vendors. Issues often arise from reimbursements submitted weeks or even months after a purchase. Submitting them sooner allows you to resolve potential issues, such as obtaining a missing receipt, more effectively.
Re-Registration for Student Orgs
CardinalEngage has a blue bar at the top of your dashboard awaiting your club’s re-registration! Now is the time before academic priorities begin to heat up. This year’s form has been streamlined to a third of the size compared to last year. Re-Registration is mandatory for your club or it will go dormant. Dormant-status clubs are not allowed to participate in FestiFall because they are no longer a recognized student organization. Click on the image or click here to check out our How-To video.
Off-Campus Fundraising
Student organizations must receive university approval through the Office of Student Engagement and Office of Development prior to fundraising from corporations. Approval must be requested in the Spring quarter to fundraise for the next academic year. To begin this process, 2025-2026 leaders (President, VP, FO) are required to attend a training to learn about fundraising guidelines and the approval process.
Student organizations will be given access to the application form in Cardinal Engage after all 3 authorized officers have attended training. The deadline to apply is Friday, May 30th.
